I Am Here to Be of Consequence

I am here to be of consequence,
to be more than my parents' child,
mere outcome of the latest in a series of matings
between persons almost all of whom I never knew,
and none of whom I can ever know
as well as I already know myself.

I am here to be of consequence,
to be more than a reaction or response
to other people and institutions
whose self-appointed or established purpose
is to shape, direct, instruct or otherwise conform me
to a pre-existing set of expectations.

I am here to be of consequence,
to be more than an extension
of prevailing trends and fashions,
of teachings, preachments and ideologies,
of wisdom handed down,
of reasons handed over,
of meanings that last only for a season.

I am here to be of consequence,
to be more than the caretaker
of the things that I possess,
the thoughts that I profess,
and the feelings that I express.

More than all of these,
I am here to be my own consequence,
to be all that became possible
when the universe chose to be itself
as me.

A chat with a christian...

So I was online recently and someone i had never spoken to before began to instant message me on yahoo. The person introduced themselves and told me that they were 19 and in bible school training to be a pastor. We began chatting and exchanging our respective beliefs. I told him that I had complete respect for his beliefs because it was through christianity that I first experienced the spiritual realm and first came to know God. I told him that i thought that our purpose here was to come to a full understanding of ourselves as sentient beings... to experience who we really are by becoming who we are not. He asked me whether I was still a christian and i said I no longer defined myself as anything. He asked me why? And I thought instead of going through everything I believed and didnt believe I would direct him to this blog where I told him I shared my thoughts on spiritual things. The guy checks out this blog and then goes off on me saying you are going to hell and destruction, you must repent and come back to God or else you will end up burning in hell!!

I must confess that I was a bit taken aback. Even though I am fully aware of how bigoted christians have been throughout the ages, how it has been used to justify numerous atrocities committed amongst us, how instead of promoting unity and love among all mankind it has encouraged separatism between the "saved" and the "unsaved", it was sad to see it once again... in someone so young and so committed to submitting his life to the service of bringing persons closer to God. But was this young man really submitting his life to this service or was it service to a particular philosophy or belief?

From time immemorial man has sought to define the mysteries of this universe of our life force, of our existence. Several philosophies and religions were birthed out of this need. I call these philosophies and religions - "boxes". It is the box that we put our God into so that we can understand the mysteries and in this understanding we feel safe and we become secure in the world. For without these boxes who would we be? Why are we here? Its scary to believe in nothing, to not know who we are and why we exist and where we are going if go we must. So we cling to our boxes for without them we are alone and left with unanswered and what we think are unanswerable questions. When someone questions our box we feel threatened, we feel insecure because who we are is all wrapped up in that box.. and so we lash out... we attack anything and anyone who questions our box. Because if our box isnt right then what we think about ourselves is all wrong. And so the Pastors and preachers tell us we are destined for hell and eternal damnation if we dont believe in the box.

I was a born again christian for several years and I soon learnt the difference between having a relationship with God and having a relationship with a belief or philosophy. I held on to God and stepped out in faith into the unknown. I relieved myself of all religious doctrine and structure. Through meditation and prayer I have found my own TRUTHS. Truths that do not separate us but unite us. I respect all beliefs... once your beliefs are serving you and you are not serving them. You know when your beliefs are serving you by the fruit of the spirit, love, joy and peace and all that flows from these. Attacking others for their beliefs doesn't fall in this category.

So to my friend who told me i was going to hell and destruction because i didnt believe in what he did, I say... look and listen deep within yourself and ask of your God...why will you destroy that which you created? Why did you give me free choice to merely condemn me to eternal damnation for exercising it? If you look deeply enough and in the deepest silence you listen closely enough perhaps you might hear a voice saying " Lo I will never leave you or forsake you... even until the end of time".

There really is no need to be fearful of not having all the answers my friend, once we know that God exists and is always lovingly conspiring to ensure our happiness and success and not our ultimate destruction and downfall.

The Karmic Principle ..... the Fourth Truth

"What goes up must come down"..... "What goes around comes around" .... "You reap what you sow"...

“If we plant a seed in the ground we know that the sun
will shine and the rain will water, and we leave it to the
Law to bring results...Well, the desire you image is the
seed, your occasional closing of the eyes in imagery is the
sun, and your constant, though not anxious, expectation is
the rain and cultivation necessary to bring absolutely sure
results...”
-- Frances Larimer Warner, Our Invisible Supply: Part One
1907

Retribution and consequence for our actions is yet another universal truth. Every religion and philosophy has expounded this principle. Yet up till today, many persons do not believe this because of what they see around them. They look at the corrupt cruel people committing the worst acts against others, seemingly prosper and grow, while others who stand on integrity and truth are trodden upon and seemingly destroyed. It is easy for us to say “Ahh look you see, he always gets away with that”. The truth is though he doesn’t… He never ever does… not once… not ever.

We fail to see when and where these persons fall. We expect it to be immediate and directly related to the actions that we consider to be bad. The thing is though, if the immediate and direct result of any action was “bad” why would anyone do it. If how we acted, did not in some way bring some benefit to us, no one would act in that way. Put another way if stealing someone’s idea, or worth, killing someone, hurting someone else did not result in some benefit to us we would not do it would we?

In some way, we will immediately gain from our actions, either materially, emotionally or otherwise. It is this which motivates us. What we do not see is the seed that we have planted in the invisible world which has gone out and must return and bear fruit. The root thought behind any of our actions will return to us sooner or later. All of our thoughts of hate, envy, anger, mistrust, all the root energies of harmful action toward others has dispersed into the universe and once this is done it exists, we can not take it back, it will return to us. Clearly therfore, this truth is one of the most dangerous to ignore and is the cause of most our angst. There is a time for everything under the sun and though we may think that others are getting away with something they really are not. And so neither are we. I remember the words of the great Mahatma Ghandi

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it – always”.

The way this physical universe operates we have artificial differentiations between the “now” and the “then” and between the “here” and the “there”. This differs from the Fourth Dimensional or invisible world where time and space do not exist. So that in the invisible world as the thought is created the result is assured. In our physical world issues of time and space separate cause and effect. When we begin to understand this, we do not look at the apparent relationship between cause and effect in this physical world but we look deeper to find the truth.

For me I have come to learn that we must even look beyond this particular life existence and look to past lives to find the meaning for events in this one. Many of us enter our lives with “Karmic Debt”. Things that we especially want to deal with in this lifetime because we didn’t do it before or because we were affected in some way by it before.

The law of Karma however, although it is dangerous to ignore, is nothing of which to be afraid. The true meaning of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ was to free us from the consequences of our actions. It is for us to open our eyes to see that through the Christ within us we can overcome any consequence which we justly deserve. According to the bible "the wages of sin is death". Jesus Christ died for our sins and in so doing released us from the Karmic consequence of our actions.

Though we operate within the laws, we have the power and the grace to be absolved from them. Our thoughts and actions have created energies, which cannot be destroyed once it is in our universe, it exists forever… but energy can change shape and form, energy once negative can be converted to positive. Through forgiveness and repentance for our thoughts and actions we change the nature of the energy which will return to us. This is the blessing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For those of us who accept this truth… we are free indeed.

The Power of the NOW ..... the Third Truth

"The secret of awakening is to unconditionally accept this moment as it is!" Eckhart Tolle. If we were to analyse why we get depressed, feel unworthy or unhappy it is really because we are feeling an image that we have had of ourselves in the past or for the future crumbling or falling apart. This is usually a very painful experience which causes us trauma in the present moment that we are in. So that if we have lost a loved one, been told that we have a terminal illness, burdened by debts and hardships ... these are all issues that give us pain because of an image of ourselves that we have held on to,which we are now perceiving to be destroyed, lost to us forever. But if we were to start thinking not in terms of where we have been or where we thought we might have gone in the future and start appreciating exactly where we are, recognising in this moment that we have all the power to effect our circumstances right now, we easily separate from our depressive episodes and take control of our lives. Experiencing this third truth is true awakening. You combine the power of thought, word and action to create a result in the NOW, not looking to the future for happiness and fulfillment but knowing that it is yours right now. That space between now and then does not exist because every moment is NOW, every moment is an opportunity to be the best that you can be, to love and grow and experience what ever life presents you in that moment. If you get this you will see that right NOW is a time of peace and fulfillment. The responsibility for your NOW belongs to you and no one else.

The Second Truth

All matter is made of energy. If we look at any item under a microscope and magnify sufficiently we will see that what appears to be solid is in fact not solid at all but made up of millions of atoms moving, colliding and held together by energy. Einstein went further than any other scientist by discovering that even the tiny atoms were not solid at all but were in fact made up of even more infinitesimal particles of energy. Every single thing that exists in this physical world first existed as pure thought. The chair you're sitting on, the clothes you're wearing, all first existed as a thought. Our thoughts are the purest form of energy. By combining, first thought, word and then action we make manifest on this earth anything that we want. It is important to understand that this truth exists whether we are aware of it or not. This is a spiritual law which operates without exception. So that we can go through life inadvertently allowing this truth to dictate our circumstances or we can harness this truth and waste no time on negative thoughts or actions. If you want to change your life change your mind!

Where is God?

Yesterday a close friend of mine asked me to do a 40 day course with her which was recommended by the best selling author Rick Warren through his book "Purpose Driven Life". I immediately accepted since I am attracted to any course of spiritual growth and empowerment. So I asked her to read me the foreword of the book over the phone and she did. She came to a point where the writer said "Self help books often suggest that you try to discover the meaning and purpose of your life by looking within yourself, but Rick Warren says that is the wrong place to start. You must begin with God, your Creator". As my friend read this I knew that I could not and would not do the course. Whilst I am not here to judge anyone or their belief's and I therefore say what I am about to say from the purest place of love - we are here to engage each other in this journey of life - to understand that we are all connected and that we all are one - What I do know is that that statement did not resonate as Spiritual Truth that I have come to know or re-member (as Neil Donald Walsch would say) through experience. The writer suggests we ought not to look within but we must look to GOD to find our purpose. The statement leads us to the question - WHERE IS GOD? If we look at the "Scriptures" (that the writer himself holds dear) - When Jesus taught us how to pray he said start your prayers like this " Our Father, who art in Heaven". Jesus also said "The Kingdom of Heaven (God) is within you". Therefore from the words of Jesus himself, God is within each and every one of us. Other scripture states "The body is the temple of the Lord" That is not to say that GOD is only within us - as we experience HIM we come to know that GOD is in all that is seen and unseen. God IS everywhere in everything. This is the concept of ominipresence that most theologians accept. The God Force holds all things together; so as we meditate on this we realise that truly We are all one with each other and with God. When you know that the Spirit of God resides within you, you know where to look for your TRUTH.

The First Truth ..

What a wonderful day this day is!! Thank you Lord for life, health, love and wealth! The most amazing thing about becoming sentient is that suddenly you're awakening out of a daydream, your life before you became aware was running on automatic. Now everything is different, now we understand that we cannot slumber. We must be diligent to watch our thoughts since "as we think so we are". We now understand that we have ultimate power to create our own destiny. The first step in charting our own course is understanding that we are responsible for every single circumstance that exists in our life. EVERY SINGLE CIRCUMSTANCE THAT WE FIND OURSELVES IN, BE IT GOOD BAD OR INDIFFERENT, IS AS A RESULT OF SOME THOUGHT WORD OR DEED THAT WE HAD OR DID! If you cannot accept this first immutable truth, then you cannot achieve the ultimate success that you long for. Meditate on that - your failed relationship, your credit card balance, your stressful work environment, your ill health were all created by you. Nine out of every ten peoply will probably not fully appreciate this TRUTH but once you do you can begin the miraculous process of leading the life that you want!. My blessings to you.

And so it begins...

So here we are at the start of the journey to the Emmanuel within. For those who don't know, "emmanuel" is loosely translated as God within us. I have through my life experiences come to know that this is an unexplainable yet uncontrovertable TRUTH which I am committed to sharing. I am presently writing a book in which I am teaching how to unlock the GOD within. I do not hold myself up as a GURU or a prophet but a humble servant of TRUTH. I am here to learn as you are and we are here to help each other on this journey. We all have a unique contribution to make and I invite anyone to make posts here. If I can help you with a question I will unhesitatingly do so and if anyone feels that they can answer any question that I or anyone else has placed here then please feel free to do so.

My Father in Heaven revealed to me that
" We are all expressions of God, perfect in that aspect of God that we exhibit; we engage this journey and fulfill our destinies when we come to see this TRUTH not only in ourselves but in ALL others." I welcome you on this journey, my friend, in love.
