"What goes up must come down"..... "What goes around comes around" .... "You reap what you sow"...
“If we plant a seed in the ground we know that the sun
will shine and the rain will water, and we leave it to the
Law to bring results...Well, the desire you image is the
seed, your occasional closing of the eyes in imagery is the
sun, and your constant, though not anxious, expectation is
the rain and cultivation necessary to bring absolutely sure
-- Frances Larimer Warner, Our Invisible Supply: Part One
Retribution and consequence for our actions is yet another universal truth. Every religion and philosophy has expounded this principle. Yet up till today, many persons do not believe this because of what they see around them. They look at the corrupt cruel people committing the worst acts against others, seemingly prosper and grow, while others who stand on integrity and truth are trodden upon and seemingly destroyed. It is easy for us to say “Ahh look you see, he always gets away with that”. The truth is though he doesn’t… He never ever does… not once… not ever.
We fail to see when and where these persons fall. We expect it to be immediate and directly related to the actions that we consider to be bad. The thing is though, if the immediate and direct result of any action was “bad” why would anyone do it. If how we acted, did not in some way bring some benefit to us, no one would act in that way. Put another way if stealing someone’s idea, or worth, killing someone, hurting someone else did not result in some benefit to us we would not do it would we?
In some way, we will immediately gain from our actions, either materially, emotionally or otherwise. It is this which motivates us. What we do not see is the seed that we have planted in the invisible world which has gone out and must return and bear fruit. The root thought behind any of our actions will return to us sooner or later. All of our thoughts of hate, envy, anger, mistrust, all the root energies of harmful action toward others has dispersed into the universe and once this is done it exists, we can not take it back, it will return to us. Clearly therfore, this truth is one of the most dangerous to ignore and is the cause of most our angst. There is a time for everything under the sun and though we may think that others are getting away with something they really are not. And so neither are we. I remember the words of the great Mahatma Ghandi
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it – always”.
The way this physical universe operates we have artificial differentiations between the “now” and the “then” and between the “here” and the “there”. This differs from the Fourth Dimensional or invisible world where time and space do not exist. So that in the invisible world as the thought is created the result is assured. In our physical world issues of time and space separate cause and effect. When we begin to understand this, we do not look at the apparent relationship between cause and effect in this physical world but we look deeper to find the truth.
For me I have come to learn that we must even look beyond this particular life existence and look to past lives to find the meaning for events in this one. Many of us enter our lives with “Karmic Debt”. Things that we especially want to deal with in this lifetime because we didn’t do it before or because we were affected in some way by it before.
The law of Karma however, although it is dangerous to ignore, is nothing of which to be afraid. The true meaning of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ was to free us from the consequences of our actions. It is for us to open our eyes to see that through the Christ within us we can overcome any consequence which we justly deserve. According to the bible "the wages of sin is death". Jesus Christ died for our sins and in so doing released us from the Karmic consequence of our actions.
Though we operate within the laws, we have the power and the grace to be absolved from them. Our thoughts and actions have created energies, which cannot be destroyed once it is in our universe, it exists forever… but energy can change shape and form, energy once negative can be converted to positive. Through forgiveness and repentance for our thoughts and actions we change the nature of the energy which will return to us. This is the blessing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For those of us who accept this truth… we are free indeed.
